Why This Strategy Matters: Relationships That Transform Lives - Strategy 2025-28

Strategies don’t live in documents — they live in people. Head of Service for Complex Lives Laura tells us how…

This strategy matters to me because it reflects what I see every day as Head of Service for Complex Lives: the transformative power of relationships rooted in kindness, consistency, and courageous conversation.

At CoLab, we’ve always known that people experiencing multiple disadvantage need more than services. They need to be seen, heard, and supported by people who stay curious, listen deeply, and advocate fiercely.

Professional curiosity and human connection aren’t just values—they are tools for change. When we show up with consistency, we help rebuild trust. When we work collaboratively, we create the conditions where people no longer feel shuffled from doorway to doorway, but instead experience services that genuinely work with and around them.

For nine years, we’ve stood alongside people for the long haul. The MEAM report and other evaluations confirm what we’ve witnessed: that long-term, relationship-based support leads to meaningful change—far more than short-term, fragmented interventions tied to funding cycles.

This strategy gives us a shared vision: one grounded in learning from others, celebrating what works, and holding ourselves to the highest standard of care and collaboration. It’s a vision rooted not only in services, but in solidarity.
