We are currently offering our online Zoom programme for July for you to join up with. This is the ideal time to support each other and remain connected until we can get together again. If you want to join our chat you will need Whatsapp, otherwise all activities are accessed via Zoom. We only have limited spaces available so get in touch if you want to join in. We look forward to seeing you there!
Not sure about zoom? Click here to see what some of our women have to say about this new way of staying in touch with each other.
Earlier this year some of our women’s project members took part in a short filming session, talking about the project and the impact being part of it has had on them. This short film shares the stories of how they came to be involved with the group, the ways it has helped them improve their resilience and wellbeing, and what their plans are for the future...
The Resilient Woman, Resilient System Initiative is a 12-month Ministry of Justice funded project where key agenices work together to create a whole system, resilience-based approach, to working with women in the Justice System. Facilitated by CoLab a number of key agencies have come together in partnership to focus on key actions for change around therapeutic support, learning & employment, sense of self & identity and support for children & families.
The project began with 35 women attending a ‘Resilient Woman’ workshop. From this we identified key needs and messages that informed priorities for the project moving forward.
Women in the system identified 5 areas of work:
We currently have 21 women regularly accessing the project through various opportunities. The Women’s Forum meets on a monthly basis to monitor progress, to codesign new initiatives, and take time to discuss issues that matter in a safe space.
Our weekly Women’s Open Session at CoLab hosts a range of agencies offering support in a protected space, including information on DSVA, benefits, housing, relationships, health, volunteering opportunities, and employability. We hope to create opportunities for developing social enterprise as the project develops.Back to projects
Working for a project about resilience shaped my aims during this pandemic.
Those of us who attend The Resilient Women Group suddenly found ourselves in a practical test of our namesake. Through groups we’re getting to share our weird and beautiful lives with one another in new ways. I’ve got to see women who haven’t met each other before this, virtually find connection and bond, there is kindness, encouragement, vulnerability and playfulness in our conversations.
It looks like we’re having a big party when this is all over to quite rightly congratulate ourselves, one of the things I’m most looking forward to is getting to see people who have shared their lives whilst going through something really big together, meet for the first time in person, I imagine bold hugs and real smiles as we celebrate one another, mourn those we have lost and didn’t get to say goodbye to, share stories of the things that came out of the pandemic that we continue to use as we found something really useful.
Feeling clear headed and equipped about going forward.
I’m seeing a group of women form a tribe, that gathers and walks alongside one another, sharing momentum, and I look forward to celebrating that at our graduation.
